New Writing Partnership awarded £250k investment from Grants for the Arts

The New Writing Partnership has been awarded £250k of investment over the next three years from Arts Council England's lottery funding scheme, Grants for the Arts, to develop three innovative projects that will see the company take its place as a leading force in literature.

The bid was supported by Arts Council England, East, the world famous University of East Anglia School of Literature and Creative Writing, and many of the Eastern region’s leading literature organisations.

The funds will enable The New Writing Partnership to:

  • undertake a two-year programme that will bring the best live literature to venues in the region
  • develop a three-year programme of partnerships between regional organisations and international partners to bring new work from around the world into the region, and the best from the East of England out to international partners
  • work with UEA to recruit four Creative Writing Fellows over a two-year period to the School of Literature and Creative Writing, thus further establishing its status as an international leader in the field and benefiting readers and writers across the region

“It’s a huge boost for us,” said Chris Gribble, Chief Executive of The New Writing Partnership, “and we are looking forward enormously to starting work with our partners in the region, nationally and internationally. Our aims are to support, showcase and explore the potential of literature and new writing, and to establish the East of England as a centre of excellence in literature. This award will enable us to achieve these aims, benefiting writers, readers and audiences alike. Norwich has a long history of excellence in literature. The city of Norwich, the county of Norfolk and Arts Council England, East have been incredibly supportive of our work, and it makes a difference. The East of England is a hot bed of talent and enthusiasm, and this award will ensure everyone with a love of literature is able to benefit.””
