Free Media Training Workshop for:  

1) Refugees and Asylum Seekers                                                        

2) Individuals from local organisations working with Asylum Seekers and Refugees  

Organised as part of the City of Refuge Community programme this day long workshop aims to develop a positive media strategy by supporting local organisations and individuals interested in creating a stronger link with the media. It focuses on how to use media in advocacy and lobbying process, how to attract media attention and how to present the issues in the media and to connect the priorities with wider issues the media. The training will be delivered by the Exiled Journalists Network. The session covers: How the media operates; media strategy and policy; conducting radio interviews; the phone in; handling hostile questions; press releases – how to write them; selling your story; going on TV; making complaints.

Planning and Coordination of Refugee Week Events in Norwich

Refugee Week 2009 will take place between the 15th  – 21st of June. Norwich City of Refuge is committed to supporting the activities of Refugee Week. To support local groups and individuals and encourage further participation in event and activity development for Refugee Week 2009 we are inviting you to Refugee Week planning meetings which are being organised as part of the New Writing Partnership’s Norwich City of Refuge Programme.

Date: The first planning meeting will be held on Friday the 19th of September between 2-3pm.  All following meetings will be held on a monthly basis on the 1st Tuesday of every month.
